Default 7105t - VPN through BB modem

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all, first poster here and I have searched through the internet as well as this site for an answer but can't find anything.

Issue: Can use BB as modem after following the directions of the How To on this wonderful site. I can seach Google, etc. with no problems. I have the most recent desktop software, just downloaded it today, and the phone is about 1 month old. The laptop is a company laptop and we use the BES here but I am not trying to sync anything so I don't think that should matter. The service is through T-Mobile and it is the unlimited Enterprise plan.

Problem: Once connected I try to run Cisco VPN client and it will contact the gateway and then timeout after about 5-7 seconds and return the error "Remote peer no longer responding." I cannot ping the gateway but one of our IT guys said that you cannot ping it until you are connected to it. I also called T-Mobile and they said there should be no problem. I am trying to connect through TCP, not UDP because UDP doesn't work when connected by cable to the network. Also, it will work fine if I am connected to broadband.

Any ideas? Was the T-Mobile rep wrong and I need them to open some ports?

Thanks.

So I talked to a T-Mobile rep and she acknowledged there are 3 access servers, WAP, Internet2, and Internet3. I saw on a website that Internet3 is the one that will pass VPN traffice but she said the Blackberry uses the WAP and cannot use the Internet3 since that is a data service for things like Palms, etc..

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the VPN to work.

Default Lower your MTU for VPN success

Your MTU is most likely too high; it's a common problem when using VPN clients. See the following page for more info:
