Hey guys/gals,

I have been reading these threads for a week now as I have decided I will be getting a blackberry. I decided on the Torch. Reading the numerous threads posted have made me more excited to get this phone.

The only reason I have not gotten it yet is because I am trying to get a decent deal with my provider (Bell Canada). My main thing I am after is getting 1 gig for the price of 500mb. My current 3 year contract us up in 1 month and my providers retention department does not want to help me at all it seems. Yet I have been a faithful, paid my bills on time customer for like 6 years.

Any suggestions or anything to help get what I want to speed up the process of me getting a Blackberry sooner. lol

Thanks all

Go to Telus & Rogers. Get quotes from them for a Torch with a 1GB plan.

Then go back to Bell with that and remind them that porting a number to another vendor is easy with no contract. Also play the "I would prefer to stay but..." card.

Will it work? I would say about 60-70% they will not change their minds.

For example, Telus let my company walk to Bell and we were a $10k/month customer.

Good luck.

I would check with some of the large retail stores or even Amazon. they seem to be offering big deals with a contract. I'm not sure Bell is one but give it a try. Amazon had the torch for $ 50.00 to Free.

My Bell contract is up in the spring and I will cheerfully walk away from them if somebody else offers a better deal/better service. Since I use Gmail for all my email, there's no dependence on a specific carrier's service.

Canadian cellular carriers generally offer poor deals...consumers have to get more demanding and fickle to 'encourage' them to get more competitive.
