Yesterday I put my Blackberry Curve 3G in the washing machine. It was a white wash, which is hot, and as a live in student accomodation we have a washing facility. Once I realised my phone was in the washing machine I went to stop the wash but was unable to do anything as they are commercial type washers and the conceirge don't have any control over the power or are able to stop the wash cycle.

The phone was on when I put it in the wash and was obviously off when it had finished. I took it out and took it apart. I have a universal type charger where it charges the battery rather than the phone itself. When I got to my room I put the battery in the universal charger and it recognised it. However I then stupidly put it in the phone and tried to switch it on with no response.

I have now put it in a bowl of rice (which everyone keeps saying to do :S) and put the bowl over the heater on a low heat. It's drying now and has only been one day.

The phone still has moisture in it because there is a little pocket of water on the front of the screen that moves around when I apply pressure to it.

Because the phone was on when it went in and off when it came out does that mean there's no hope and that the circuit has fried or is there a chance of it coming alive after it has dried out properly??

Most likely a goner.

Putting the battery back in before it's completely dry is always a mistake, but since there was no reaction you might have gotten away with it.

Leave it in the rice for several days, taking it out occasionally to let any moisture in the container of rice to escape and to maybe change the rice. It certainly looks grim, the BB having run through a full wash cycle, but miracles do happen with BlackBerrys.
