I'm on a 9800.

Just got a 32 GB SanDiSk microSD card. Loaded files onto it, inserted into device, and received "Errors found...Do you wish to repair?". Clicked Yes, then Yes to "Do you wish to save clusters..?"

Received "Repair failed."

Removed, reinserted card, ...and then clicked No to saving "clusters..."

Inside Options>Device>Storage I see "Repairing Card: Please wait..." under Media Card Storage, and it has been showing for over a few hours now. I suppose perhaps because I loaded over 10 GB of music files on it.

Anyone with media card repair experience, does this amount of time seem reasonable? My torch is noticeably acting sluggish, so I guess repair is occurring?

I really like the fact that there is a built-in repair function of sorts, just wondering while I'm waiting here if someone is online now here who may know whether it does sound indeed like it is working and how long it will take, before doing any/all of the following:

Pulling card and then battery and then reinserting card and then battery.

Running Disk Utility Check via my PC.

Checking for files -- such as with a _ before them, removing files....and reloading to narrow down problem files.

Reformatting again (first time I did so without clicking No to "...save clusters?"

Nevermind for now, eventually received "Repair failed." Reformatted and am currently loading back files

Thanks for the update. As I was reading I was thinking that's a long time, but then it also sounded like it was still going. So a couple of hours for a large card and large number of files is not unreasonable.

I hate to say it, but I'd be prepared to that card to fail altogether. Just curious, when you reformatted, how much free space does the card show?

I don't want to hear that the card may fail!!!

I've reformatted the card a few times and each time the available space after being reformatted by my torch shows 30.4 gb (while showing base rim files).

After my previous post above, I reloaded all 10gb of music files in 3 separate blocks. After each of the first two loads I unplugged my torch from my pc to see that a repair to the card was required. The first time I clicked yes to saving the clusters, the second time I clicked no. Each repair went ok though took anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. After the first one I found .chk files (windows fragments, i.e. clusters) which I deleted. All cool.

After loading the third bulk, which was actually 6gb of music files, received "needs to be repaired," clicked no to "save clusters?" and after 8 hours it still showed the repair still occurring. Decided to reformat -- showed 30.4 available space after reformat. Decided to load the 6gb first, after 2 hours still showing repair. After much longer I may reformat yet again and break that 6gb into smaller blocks....Wondering if all of this might have to do with the 32gb disc being only class 2?

Oh, and also, all of the music files I loaded were from my previous 8gb card and device memory. I also deleted all bb thumbs among files.

I don't have any real knowlege about the cards. Just use them. Never had to repair, but ran it once just for giggles to see what would happen (and no errors found).

Are you putting the files on the card with a card reader, or doing it on the device in mass storage mode? As a test, you might do it by a different method (computer versus BlackBerry) and see if it makes a difference.

Also, if you are running stuff on the computer while doing the copying, try shutting everything else down.

You could also test on another card if you have one.

Don't know about class having any bearing. I'm guessing no.

After hours and hours of loading, reformatting, spin determined the card was corrupt.
