Default Should i still get the 7100 from TMobile?

I am interested in getting a blackberry that will allow me to access internet from my laptop when I am on the road. From my understanding reading the boards, the 7290 from Cingular and the 7100 from TMobile allow me to do that.

There have been recent issues with port blocking with TMobile. Some people say it has been resolved, other say it has not. I will be paying for unlimited data, and I was wondering if port blocking prohibits the 7100 from acting as a modem.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Jibi,

I ended up getting a 7100t from Tombile. But I can't get my phone to act like a modem for my laptop.

I followed the steps from Mark, and have been able to register with the network.

However whenever I try going to web sites, it asks me to download a file instead.

Can you shed any light?

Thanks
