Default Turning Off

hello everybiody!
i have a question
i have a blackberry curve 8520, i bought it in august, but since 2 months now, it keeps turning off by itself. And when it's off i can't turn it back on. Even when the battery is fully charged. sometimes i'm typing an sms, or just calling, or even doing nothing with the phone, and then it turns off by itself. i brought it back to the shop, they kept it for 2weeks to resolve the problem. they gave it back and said they did something to the software, and 2 hours after getting it back, it turns off again, sometimes 7 8 times a day. and sometimes i can turn it on in 2 minutes, other times it takes more than an hour. anyone experienced this problem too?

Some things to look at/try...

- Make sure the contacts on the battery and on the handset are clean and not corroded. Check that the contacts on the handset are not bent out of place.

- Make sure the battery is tight in the compartment against the contacts on the handset. If not use a business card to make a shim.

- I know you say the battery is charged, but a battery can fail in several different ways. Maybe yours is showing as charged but is unable to deliver sufficient power under demand. If you can borrow a battery, try it for a few hours as a test. If not, and after ruling out everything else, consider buying a new battery.

- if you are using a microSD media card, remove it for a while as a test.

- Pay attention to the applications you have installed that run all the time. Pay particular attention to those that are set to run in the background when closed. Fully exit everything, or uninstall, as a test.

Maybe you removed something you shouldn't. Try reloading the OS or restoring from a previous back up.

Define can't turn on.

Remove the microSD media card, if you have one; and the SIM card if you have a model that uses one.

Remove the battery. If you have any doubt that the battery is charged, verify that it is charged beforehand, the replace the battery.

What exactly do you see when you replace the battery? Does the device start to boot? Does the LED light up red?

If you see nothing, I don't know you can do.

If you see something, then see if you can connect and wipe with either JL_CMDER or BBSAK (search). If you can, then wipe and then reinstall the device software.

Did you get it wet or drop it on an edge?

Have you tried a new battery - brand new OEM?

I suspect some sort of intermittent hardware issue. See what others say. When it does boot, do a full backup using Desktop Manager, and then you could try wiping (see above) and reinstalling the OS. If it's hardware, it isn't going to do any good; but on the off chance it's software, it won't hurt.

Like I said, do a full backup with desktop manager. You'll be able to restore to that BlackBerry or another.

Who knows what the shop really did, or didn't do. I would not make any assumptions in that regard.

What is guaranteed? The device itself? If so, ask for an exchange.

Download desktop manager from blackberry.com. It may be called desktop software on the site. Download the file and run it to install the software. Then run desktop manager, follow the prompts, connect your blackberry, and so forth.
