Default OS 6 upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Bold 9650 and I'm very new to the smart phone world. I'm getting used to my Blackberry and have downloaded some very helpful apps. Verizon recently sent me a message that I can now download OS 6. My question is, should I download at this time? I'm not a sophisticated user and I heard that some apps won't run on OS6. Would there be some improvements that even a novice user would note with OS6. Your thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

Default Re: OS 6 upgrade

Well, I just did the same and I like OS/6. I did have some initial problems with my calendar/contacts but that might have been because I didn't have it configured properly to start with. I did wind up doing a security wipe after upgrading to 6 and re-installing everything but since then it's been working like a charm.

If you have a lot of applications installed you might want to do the same. I.E.
1) Perform the in-place upgrade.
2) Check to make sure everything still works the way you expect it. If not, do a security wipe (which will take it back to stock OS/6) and re-install everything.

The front-end for OS/6 has a fresh look to it - very up-to-date. There are a handful of things that differ slightly (tray usage, etc) but it's not a problem. Overall I think it's a good upgrade. Now that I have it all set up and running I think I'll be able to leave it alone for awhile and just use it.

HTH,

-Max

Personal opinion, since you are new to the BB and apparently like how it works for you, then it must not be broken and doesn't need to be fixed with an OS update.

And keep in mind, many of the apps you have now might not be compatible with OS 6.
