Hi all

My Sony Eriksson mobile\cell broke recently and I am on the 3 Network (In the UK).

I have a Blackberry Smartphone 8700v lying around, and before I unlock it I wanted to check that it would be compatible with my SIM.

I tried my SIM in an old style Nokia and it wouldn't work, possible because the phone was too old.

Anyone know if it will work?

If both are GSM it might. However, the 8700 is pretty old as BBs go. And it would be EDGE only if it did work, not 3G.

Probably worth a call tot he carrier to see before you unlock it.

3 don't run a 2G network in some places now. The 8700v is not 3G, so if you happen to be in a no 2G area, it won't work at all.

Unless it is actually an 8707v, it won't work. That said, even if it is, the real question is WHY would you use such an old piece of equipment?
