Default Blackberry and MS Oulook

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

This feels a bit cheeky as it's really an MS Outlook query (I think) but I'm struggling to find the answer. I'm currently using my Blackberry Bold 9700 and have it providing my email but there is no sync as I am using Windows Live Mail. I would really like to get to a point where:

i) When I receive and read my email on my BB it updates the read status on my Windows package and vice-versa.
ii) When I send an email on my BB it is saved on my Windows package and v-v.
iii) When I update my calendar on my BB it updates my calendar on my Windows package and v-v.
iv) When I update my contacts on my BB it updates on my Windows package and v-v.

If I move to Windows Outlook will all of these options become available? If not, is there a way to do this (without having to hook it up to the computer).

I am using a web based email host.

Thanks

Ian

Switch to GMail as your mail provider.

Which web based email host do you use?

As per Penguin's reply, the only webmail host that offers calendar and contact sync is Gmail.

Well I think it's a web-based email host - I'm not so sure on the terminology. We have a hosting company called 123-reg and they host the email. I can log in to see my email through a web portal but I never actually bother to do that and instead just use Windows Live Mail and download from their servers.

I've just been looking at Gmail as I've never used it before and although it looks like it will do some of the stuff it looks less suited to a business application (which this is).

To get what you want and use Outlook on the PC is to move to a BES or a hosted BES solution.

I use BIS and Outlook on my PCs for mail but also sync calendar and contacts on the PCs, MacBook and BB using Google Sync. Works great for me. Mail doesn't sync but I can live with that. My calendar is most important to me.

If you are using your own domain, look into Google Apps (Google Apps) and you can get the benefits of GMail (wireless mail, calendar, and contact sync) while keeping your own domain name for your email address.

This is currently the solution I use since I gave up paying extra each month for a hosted BES.

Google has upgraded their mail servers several times in the past year to improve BlackBerry integration. Windows Live Mail has not, so a lot of the functionality you're looking for is not possible right now with WLM. It took GMail several years to get to where they are now. No telling if/when Microsoft will do the same.
