I'm told that the Bold 9780 does support .wav files; however, it cannot play a .wav file that is an attachment to an e-mail. My business voicemail is sent to me as an e-mail with the voicemail itself attached in .wav format. I'm told by T-Mobile Blackberry Tech Support that the phone supports .wav files, but not through e-mail attachments (which in itself does not make sense). Does anyone have a different take on this (or possibly a work around)?

have you downloaded the attachment to your device then tried to open it?

I don't have an option for that. When I click on the attachment, I get options to Switch Application, OPen Atatchment or Full Menu. On the Full Menu there is no Save or Download option. When I Open Attachment, I get an error stating "The media being played is of an unsupported format". Yet, when I talked with T-Mobile, they say the 9780does support .wav files.
Is there another way to download the attachment that I'm unaware of?

Works properly for me; all of my voicemails from my company appear as WAV files and the BB opens them properly. Perhaps your BES is configured to not allow that type of attachment (assuming it is a corporate BB)?

alright after checking into the issue and it could be a few different things I jusst tested this on my 9780 and it will allow me to open and play a wave file from my email.
so a few questions are you on a BES or do you have a BIS email set up
if it is BIS setup email, delete the servcie books from the device for the email address and anything that says Blackberry Internet Service in the service book as well, after doing that do a battery pull leaving the battery out for about 1 minute. Then send the service books back to your device Via the BIS client side

I believe I'm on a BIS setup as there is no BES software installed in the Domain. I went into the Service Books, deleted the e-mail listing for the e-mail account involved and pulled the battery. I don't know how to send the service books back to the device via the BIS client side. How is that done?

I wetn to the Host Routing Table and clicked Register Now. I received the activation message. Gowever, I went to an e-mail that came is last week with the.wav attachment and it still does not play.

I would then suggest reloading your software on the blackberry. make sure the attachemnt services is checked off on the install. hope that helps

Is there a way to change the attachment service setting without reloading? Also, the phone came form T-Mobile with OS 6 on it. Does that make any difference or help any?

well kind of but a reload would eb the best thihng to do at this point ad see if it will work form there.
