|  8520 "automatically" keylocks and only unlocks by holding cancel/power off button

When not in use my 8520 automatically goes on "standby" mode. The only way to unlock this is to hold down the red cancel button. Even if someone calls me I cannot answer until unlocking in this manner. I can even move the cursor but cannot push down/press enter until I "unlock" it.
What's going on, please help.
