Default phone number lookup function

Please Login to Remove!

First time posting. My apologies if this message should have gone to another sub-board.

When I type the name of someone in my contact list, it shows me the contact or contacts that matches what I am typing. For example, if I start typing Lor, I see the name Lorie and Loren show up on my screen. I want to do the same thing but with a phone number.

For example, when I start dialing 234, all the contacts in my contact list whose number begins with 234 will show up on the screen. As I keep typing the number, it narrows down the name in my contact list.

I know the phone doesn't come with such a feature (or does it?), but is there an app for that?

Thank you.

The native address book app won't do it, but another option that may work for you is to use the search app. Just select the address book for example, and enter a number of part of a number, for example area code.

Not really what you're looking for but you can type the first letter of the first name then a space and the first letter of the last name and it will narrow your choices drastically. i.e. typing "J S" will give you John Smith, Joe Smitty, etc. It will not give you all the names that start with J.
