I've had my 8310 for...years, I don't even know, and though I love it, its really time for something new. I'm with AT&T and cannot use an upgrade as the other person on my service loathes AT&T and refuses to up for another two years...I'm also really poor so my options of just purchasing what I want are limited. I'm extremely unimpressed with BBs I am finding that already work with AT&T (again, that I can purchase ) and thus have looked into unlocked phones from other companies. I'm particularly interested in the Storm as it fits the best with what I'm looking for, but after four days of research I'm still torn on whether an unlocked Storm is a good idea. I've conversely heard that it will work with my service but not with 3g, that it will not work at all (which I don't believe), or that none of the service books will operate etc...etc...etc...

Anyone feel that I should go with this decision? Better suggestions? Also, should I go with the unlocked Storm, is that going to be a ridiculous amount of work with little help to be found?

Storms require some work to get on AT&T because AT&T doesn't have the proper Storm service books.. Please go to the 9500 section and look at the yellow sticky at the top. We have the directions to make it work on AT&T or T-Mo. Also read through that section or SEARCH as there should be some good info on it.

As for speed, you will be EDGE only, no 3G.

As you state "I'm extremely unimpressed with BBs " why dont you look at other phones. carriers including ATT offer upgrades and very low cost phones. Also some retail stores offer zero cost on 2 year contracts or extensions on an existing contract.

OP seems to want to stay with BlackBerry, just not too keen on the models that AT&T sells.

Good, The local Best Buy store offers a Blackberry Torch on ATT with a 2 year contract for $49.00. Not sure where the OP is but maybe it's available in his/her area.
Seems like a good deal.

Completely the case aiharkness...I adore the awesome that is Blackberry, just not what AT&T is offering for my price range. Thank you all!
