Default blackberry software ?

Please Login to Remove!

Question 1
I am new to blackberries but I was told at atnt and verizion stores that you need to have an (unlocked/jailbroken/rooted)
Blackberry to install your applications if they aren't from the blackberry app site. (basically your app's need to be put on the blackberry site before you can install them on a locked blackberry phone)

Is this true?

Question 2
Is their a place that I can buy a blackberry for Developers (unlocked/rooted) kind like google android has?

Question 3
Is their a blackberry phone in existence that has the abilities of the Droid X
meaning ability to plug a LCD screen , keyboard , mouse ,...etc making it into a PC desktop computer? Yet!

Q1. Not true. You cannot hack or root a BB. What you get is what you have. You can unlock a GSM device to use it on another GSM network. However, Verizon will not allow a non Verizon device on their network. The same withSprint.

Q2. Not that I am aware of. Ask in the Developers Section.

Q3. No.

To add to what Dubdub said...

Q1. You do not need an unlocked, jailbroken or rooted Blackberry to install software on the phone. The use of some APIs requre that the program be signed with a set of keys you can get from RIM. But software may be installed over USB using the desktop manager or JavaLoader, from an SD card, over the air from any web site (not just AppWorld), or AppWorld.

Another restriction is if the BB is on a corporate BEs server. Then the IT department usually sets restrictions a user cannot bypass.
