Question Downgrade help

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there, I've never posted here before so please be gentle with me!

My beloved bold9700 died a death at the weekend and is completely beyond repair and I have 7 months left on my contract.

I need a blackberry and I don't have insurance, so I'm looking to get a second hand one off ebay. But which one? curve 8900, or do you think I'll get away with an older curve functionality wise? I know these don't have 3g or gps etc but can I expect to still be able to use the same apps I'm used to? (ebay, facebook etc) Also I like to get both my hotmail and by works exchange emails and bbm. What realistically is the oldest/cheapest model I can get away with as a stopgap until I renew my contract?

Also I've read the buying a bb from ebay faq. If I buy one that is locked to o2 (which I'm on) does that mean the other person doesn't have to have theIMEI and pin released first as I'm on the same carrier? I'm so confused! Sorry if it's a stupid question!!

Default Re: Downgrade help

I bought a pearl 8120 on ebay second hand.
It does most of the things needed apart from i am having trouble setting up the broadcast facility but am hoping to fix that by upgrading the OS.

You have to watch out for some who sell phones on ebay though as having purchased one from a company on there; when it arrived the speaker wasn't working but I did get a refund eventually.

The phone I bought was locked to 02..but I got it unlocked and am now able to use another carrier.

Have a look around and look for feedback scores.

Good luck.

Buying from Ebay has issues with defective cell phones including stolen or fake equipment.

do yourself a favor and search on the Forum for Ebay and you will find a lot to read.
there is a seller seection on the forum that generally is better.
If someone helps, tell them by clicking the Thanks button
