Default Duplicate Emails

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I have two users who are receiving dupicate emails on their devices. One is using a 7290 and the other is using a 7105. I've configured both devices using the BIS (not the BES). One device just started receiving duplicate emails this past weekend and nothing has changed on either the user side nor the Exchange side of things. When I say duplicate emails, I don't mean continuously - they receive a message at 10:22 a.m. (they subsequently open and read it) and then that message will appear again as an unread message at 5:05 the same day. Has anyone experienced this issue? I've already spoken to RIM and they're at a loss and I'm awaiting a callback from them, hopefully w/a resolution.

TIA, as always.

BBG

Is it BB mail or web base mail service?

The reason I ask because my BB email doesn't support mail forward, and gmail have mail forward, and I can duplicate the problem. I can have my BB pull off the POP and have gmail forward to my BB address.

I'm not using BB mail either, I configured both devices using the interface on the device and actually up until about five days ago, both devices were working fine. There is no email forwarding occurring. Device is configured w/users' Exchange account. I've heard that there are other users on my campus who are having similar problems so I'm wondering if this is a widespread issue.

a co-worker and I (the only 2 blackberry user in the company) have been experiencing a similar situation. We both seem to get caught in a loop where emails are sent multiple time over the course of 2 or 3 hours. Sometimes I have received the same email 10-12 times. While in this loop, no other email is delivered to our Blackberry. Once the loop stops we get flooded with the email that was not delivered. I have had contacted Cingular (we are webclients) and they could not help so they contacted Blackberry who also could not help. They both insisted it was a problem with our office network. I had our network people contact Blackberry hoping the two could figure out the problem. NO LUCK. FYI. We do not use redirector but rather have our email forward from our server (not our desktop) to the cingular.blackberry.net address. I have not experienced any duplicates this week but may next week. I know this does't answer any questions for you but at least you know you are not the only one having problems. Misery loves company.

I had this problem before. If you search the forums for "duplicate messages" you should get some fixes. I think it had to do with deleting service books and then restarting the blackberry.

Thumbs up

I've had the same problem for over a month since I had my number ported. After talking with RIM the first few days they couldn't figure it out. Well today I started having issues where I could not receive emails to my BB but I could send. Got ahold of RIM and after some basic troubleshooting like sending Service Book and setting up a Blackberry email address and still not receiving emails the girl I spoke to did a Reassociation of the blackberry with my Outlook Web Account. As soon as she did I started getting the emails I had missed for today and so far no duplicates. Before I would get the duplicates every 15-30 minutes. Give RIM a call and asked them if they have tried Reassociating your Blackberry with your Email account.

jcruz1027 - Thanks for the info. I did a search prior to posting b/c none of the solutions provided apply to my situtation. Thanks again.

morenar - Thanks for your info. I already have a case open w/RIM on this situation, but I will certainly try your suggestion of having them reassociate the Blackberry w/the email account. I'm wondering exactly how does that work? Thanks again!

BBGal,
From what RIM told me they take the association between your email address and your blackberry away then associate it again. No more details were given. All she said it was like kick starting the account. Are you using BIS to login your Outlook Web Access account?

I did make sure to delete the desktop service books (CMIME & CICAL) as well. But to no avail. But thanks, I'm definitely going to look into the issue of reassociation.

Morenar,

Yes, I'm using BIS to logon to my account, necessarily the OWA, but simply the Exchange account. I'm curious as to whether RIM/T-Mobile supports that type of configuration w/out using a BES. Perhaps that's my problem. I'd like to try to not use the redirector.

Unhappy same problem

I have 40 users completely random when it hits. almost all of my users are getting 6-18 copies of the same email once in a while, no pattern that i can see. it'll happen a couple of days and then not for a few days for each user. i have an open case number with rim. am i going to have to get all 40 blackberries, delete the service books and have them send everyone new ones??? what a gawd awful solution.
thanks for any input!

Did this solve the problem?

I have five users with mail forwarded from Exchange 2003 SP1 and no BEs server and we are experiencing this problem.

I'm having this problem. So far, no resolution. I am beginning to think Blackberry is not a solid solution. It has too many "odd things" that happen.
