right I'm at a loss. 2 questions: 1) if I backup and restore my blackberry curve 8520, is there anyway to go back to the previous settings? I lost important info that didn't get backed up 2) the previous happened while trying to fix my spell checker, my bb identifies the wrong spelling but won't correct it or give me options to correct, very frustrating

Are you talking about spell check, or auto text?

Auto text is the automatic process where the BlackBerry replaces, for example, hadnt with hadn't, or i with I.

I would think auto text would be backed up, but if not you can't fix it in the same way you would create custom auto text.

If spell check is messed up, I can't imagine how it got messed up, or how you would fix it, short of an OS re-install. See what others say if that's the case.

EDIT: By the way, if we are talking about spell check, you may want to check your settings in spell check options.

Yep. Reinstall the OS is probably the only way.

its spell check, not auto text that still works. it underlines incorrect word but when you try to fix it it says system failure reboot... so how do I reinstall OS?

To re-install the OS, you'll need to wipe the device and then install the device software (the OS). See How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ for wiping help. Either use Desktop Manager to automatically install the device software, or download the installer package and do it manually.

Or, you can upgrade to a newer OS version. See the "latest OS" sticky thread for your model at the top of the subforum for your series BlackBerry. You won't need to wipe first if you upgrade.
