Question 6 feet drop

Please Login to Remove!

Hello guys, I just received my blackberry (Blackberry bold 9780) on wednesday and saturday morning I dropped my blackberry about 6 feet to the ground, I was on bbm late at night in my bed (I have a high bed) and I fell asleep, in the morning I accidently knocked it out of my bed in to the ground. It wasn't broken at all (no screen damage or anything) and the blackberry still works perfectly fine. But since it was such a large drop I was wondering, is it possible maybe something inside did break but I won't notice it untill in a couple of weeks or so suddenly something will crash. My blackberry is very new and even though it seems completely fine I am really scared that it has some inside damage that I won't know about untill a couple of weeks later.. Please reply

Agree. But I believe that when it comes to drops, damage is more likely to be apparent immediately rather than delayed.

That isn't to say that each drop doesn't increase the risk that the next drop will break the device. That may be true.

You might have loosened something internally that will show up later, but like aiharkness says, it would most likely be seen immediately. If it survived you're probably good.

Good information there.

In addition, I've dropped a number of the BBs along the way. Some several times, and occasionally hard enough for the battery cover and battery to be ejected from the device. I've never had a device fail due to a drop. They are certainly not ruggedized devices but neither are they particularly delecate.

If you are concerned Otterbox makes a number of cases that provide extra drop protection without altering the shape and size too much.

Keep it away from moisture though.
