Hi,

I have an Airtel BlackBerry connection from India.

I am travelling in Singapore and I am able to connect to Wi Fi. When I have data while roaming off, I am able to browse using browser but my Mail and BBM are not working through wifi.

In the Mobile Service Status under BIS connection it says not connected when I have Data while roaming off. I have Data ON and only while roaming OFF.

I had used this successfully in the past with my 8900 in OS 5. Any help in helping me overcome this will be much appreciated.

For your information I have had the same problem. I only noticed it today. The BIS and BES never connect over WiFi and insist on connecting only via the roaming carrier. Like you I am travelling and am presently in the Caribbean where Mobile networks are both useless and expensive.

Quite without any prompt from me a friend in Germany wrote to me this afternoon and asked me exactly the same thing as he has noticed his Bold 2 doing the same thing over there.

As I say, I don't know how long mine has been like this but it cannot be for more than a day I would say.

Is there some BB network status page one can go check up what might be afoot with the network? Any others got any comments to make about what this might be?

Just called back to Europe to support at my home network carrier. They are as foxed as me for why it is not connecting via WiFi. Thought I would report back here so you know there does appear to be something up with the Blackberry network for "roamers" trying to connect to BIS or BES via a WiFi connection.
