Default error 543 and cannot backup??

Please Login to Remove!

i tried updating my software and all i got was an error 543 symbol, iv read several sites saying to just do a back up but the computer wont recognise my blackberry so the button for the back up is dark grey and un-clickable, could anyone please help me out here? :(

If you have a JVM 543 error, you could try a battery pull to see if that will fix it.

However, most likely you will need to wipe the device with Jl_cmdr (see the FAQ) and then reload the OS (see the sticky at the top of the legacy section for the OS for your specific device and the instructions).

If you do not have a backup or if you do not sync with Outlook, Google or other app, then the data is gone.

i sorted it in the end thanks
another question if you dont mind, on the old OP i could choose what few symbols i wanted at the top of my menu so i could have the important 5 on display, now i have OP 4.2 can i still change them?

I think you mean OS? Yes you can move the icons anywhere and reorder as you wish. I forgot how, though. The user guide should tell you how.

What was the solution to the problem? Please post here in case someone else has the same problem.

instead of updating it through the desktop manager, i updated it through the handheld loader, left the battery out until it tried to update then put it back in just before and it connected up fine
