i have a b.curve 8520 when i plug my headphones in to listen to music the sound still comes from the phone speaker and not the headphones (supplied with my bb) is their something im not doing ??? thanks

Are the headphones made for use with a phone, or are they regular audio headphones?

Does the BlackBerry work correctly with another set of headphones that are designed for use with phones?

As far I know, you could have bought the device and headphones used and got what you got.

But if they are OEM headphones, try this: Start the media player on a file with audio. While the audio is playing, plug the headphones in and then unplug, and repeat a number of times, or until the audio switches between speaker and headphones as you unplug and plug.

Sorry to hear that. I would try another pair of headphones. But it may be the jack on the device is broken or has a spec of crud wedged in there causing a problem. See what others say.

There are some issues listed on RIM's site but none as you indicate. Do the head phones work for calls? If they do then I would suspect interference from another application. Did you add any Apps? Another issue is Bluetooth. Check to see if a profile is set that may interfere.

There is no setting, other than volume control and mute.

Note that the volume setting of the speakerphone and the headphones may be independent. You could have the speakerphone volume set high, but the volume on headphones all the way down.......Maybe you already thought of this, so putting it out just in case.

i have just downloaded mobiola xplayer and when i plug my headphones in they work with no problem...thanks for your help and time and maybe this might help others

Hold on.....The headphones work with an app but not with the stock media player?

In the media player menu there are commands to activate handset and activate speakerphone. If you start the media player playing an audio file, for instance, the audio will play over the speakerphone speaker and you will see activate handset in the meni. If you click activate handset the audio will switch to phone speaker and you will see activate speakerphone in the menu.

I tend to doubt it makes a difference, and the BlackBerry should switch to the headphones automatically when connected, but for giggles how about checking this with the stock media player app and your headphones. Play an audio file with the headphones plugged in and swith back and forth bewteen activate handset and activate speakerphone.

Obviously the jack is not broken. Question is why it doesn't seem to be working with the stock app.

A theme is the screen you see with the Icons. If you did not change it then that rules it out unless you did not buy it new. Did you?

Themes control the appearance and layout of the screen, app icons, etc. A poorly developed theme can cause weird problems. Given you don't know what it is indicates you likely haven't installed any. If your device is secondhand, then it is possible you are running a third-party theme.

i am using the original theme which is virgin mobile,......i have just checked the original media player and that is now working with the headphones ???
