| Unlock Problem Please Login to Remove! I currently have a Blackberry Curve 8520 v.5.0.0.592
The device has a problem (which I don’t know if it is a usual problem or not) which is that he unlock his keyboard without me giving any order constantly… This happens like everyday, situations like, I lock the keyboard, put the cellphone under a table and a few minutes later he unocks itself.
To work around this situation, I want to configure a keyboard autolock.. How can I do this? I’ve seen a couple of steps in foruns but they are all old and doesn’t work in mine.. is this option still available?
Thank you very much for your help,

| Re: Unlock Problem On the assumption you do not mean the password lock, but rather the keyboard lock, have you dropped the BlackBerry or gotten it wet or exposed it to dampness? Are you experiencing any other key or button problems?

| Re: Unlock Problem First of all I am deeply sorry,
I didn't think that this post was submitted and stupidly I've create a new one almost like this one.
Yes I am talking about KeyPad Locking and Unlocking.
No, I've never gotten it wet or anything, actually my smartphone always had this behavior. At the beginning I thought it was my fault, like - ''ok I've forgot to lock the keypad again'' but with time I realize that this is a problem with the device, mostly because it happen when I was looking at it and suddenly it unlocks itself automatically.
And finally no, my keypad has no problem, I use BBM a Lot, so I am constantly using the keypad, I think if it were any problem with the keypad, like a broken key or something I would have noticed it.
Thank you very much for your help once again,
Mário Dourado

| Re: Unlock Problem It may be that button is broken, or nearly broken, and you have contacts or something like that touching or separating or whatever on their own without the button being clicked.
I don't know if it is possible for dust to interfere with the button contacts. I have never seen it discussed, but I wouldn't rule it out.
The reason I asked if you had any other keyboard or button trouble, and of you had gotten it wet, is that exposure to even dampness like a sweaty pocket or foggy shower room can cause problems.
I don't know what would be involved in a hardware fix. If you simply want to prevent the device from unlocking, you could enable a password lock and ignore the keyboard lock problem for the rest of the time you have the device.
If you have access to a repair shop, you might see if they will give you an estimate, and then decide what to do.
But, by all means, if the device is still under warranty, exchange it.

| Re: Unlock Problem By enabling a password lock, I would have to write a password everytime I want to unlock the keypad correct? Offcourse it is a solution, but it is really not the one I am looking for.
Is is possible to configure a Keyboard AutoLock? Like ''AutoLock after 1 minute'' or something like this? This might help, because if it unlocks itself, maybe it AutoLock's itself again after a minute.
Thanks again. | | Offline

| Re: Unlock Problem By the way,
Is it possible to put a password to unlock the keypad that doesn't respect the default password protect requirements? I mean, I want the password to be like a simple "a" or "abc"
Thanks. | | Offline

| Re: Unlock Problem I suggested the password lock as a work around if you can't find a fix for the keyboard lock button, or you don't want to pay to have it fixed. But, seriously, there are good reasons to use a password lock anyway.
I don't remember the BlackBerry itself imposing any rules, such as minimum number of characters. Those with an IT policy may have rules, of course. Anyway, try it, but don't use 123 or abc. Make it random.
On qwerty keyboard devices, alt-return will lock the device. If you have dial from home turned off and the language shortcut also disabled, try the K keyboard shortcut. That used to work and still may work on your model and OS.
Good luck. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile | | Offline

| Re: Unlock Problem I am getting the message "Password is to short".

| Re: Unlock Problem You are in the right place. And apparently there is a minimum number of characters.
Set something and try it for a while.
Set the timeout to something reasonable. Lock manually as I described above, when you need to lock before the timeout. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile | | Offline

| Re: Unlock Problem I was tinkering with an spare 8310 and apparently there is a minimum four character limit and those characters cannot be the same. Like aaaa or 2222 | | Offline
