Default New "individual e-mail activation" icon??

Please Login to Remove!

I have a new icon on my BB 7290 that says "individual email activation"..what does this mean? Is it part of the RIM "workaround" or something I'm just missing?

My 7290's started getting this after I put on the 4.0.2.49 update. In addition to that those same devices started getting a decryption error after installing said update. Required a re-activation to clear it up.

That's just for setting up a e-mail account with the blackberry mail service, if you are on BES you can ignore it.

Has anyone run into having to re-activate your 7290 (or other) after loading 4.0.2.49?
We're using BES w/ Groupwise.
Thanks.

I got it for the first time when I upgraded to OS 4.1. I did not realize what it was until I read here what it is, I am not on BES and I ignored it and hid the icon, no ill effects and I did not have to reregister the device.

I got this yesterday after re-registering on HRT. It's basically a browser bookmark to the carrier's BIS. I clicked on it and it took me to Cingular's BIS...logged in and it lets you add email accounts and change the "From" address. No new functionality, just a shortcut.

*sigh*

I finally figured out how to force this icon to appear on a handheld. I administer around 90 devices and Cingular apparently pushed this new icon to some but not all. Once the users caught on as to what it could do for them word spread like wild fire.

To force this icon to appear on the handheld follow these steps.
1) Click on this link from your PC: https://webclient.blackberry.net/Web...ite=mycingular
2) Click create new account
3) Follow the online instructions to configure an account.
4) Put your pop server information in and away you go.

The awesome feature I have found is all messages appear in your regular Message folder on the handheld. Then when you reply to a message from the pop server it sends the reply from that respected email address.

This is an excellent resource for individuals wanting to keep track of their personal email on their blackberry. Much better than having to launch a browser and wait to load a internet web access page.

Since when did it send the reply from that particular email address? From what I understand you have to specify ONE "sent from" address for all your accounts. This is the way it's been for quite some time - only T-Mobile currently allows you to designate your sent from email address AFAIK
