Im current with verizon for voice, and want to pick up a blackberry with a tmobile data plan.

Should i just wait till the 8700 comes out with tmobile, or should i pick up a 7290 from ebay and open an account now, and use it till the 8700 comes out.

When you start an account with a carrier that is one of the few times you will get a discount on a device. So the best bet is to wait for the 8700 so you will get a little kick back on the device with your contract. If you are want it today and willing to pay the full rate. Which is what you will be doing if you get a 7290 on eBay and then latter pay FULL price for the 8700 down the road you might as well go to Cingular today and buy the device full rate and have them unlock it or use one of the many services to unlock it. Then just use it on T-Mobile no waiting and will most likely equal out in price. It is obvious you haven’t done much search and would recommend you spend some time on here reading. Especially in the 8700 section.

if i bought a 7290 from ebay and hooked it up to tmobile, couldnt i just opt for no contract? then when the 8700 comes out, sign up for a 1 year deal to get a discount on the phone? the whole going to cingular idea crossed my mind, but id rather not do that.

I would call or talk to TMO on that one. As we learn everyone in the carrier industry is diffrant all with mixed stories.

When you say no contract do you mean "pre-paid", I'm not sure but I don't think you can pay as you go with a Blackberry data plan.. only data device I've ever seen on pre-paid is the sidekick

If I were you, I would prefer to wait until the T-Mobile USA Unit release 8700. In fact, I still do have a old crappy 7230. I am so temped to order Cingular 8700 but decide not to.

I guess we all will have to wait at least a month or several weeks for T-Mobile to launch 8700.....

Should I give back my free phone and cancel the line I just activated so I can get an 8700 or should I opt to get the 9300i and connect it. Currently I have a BB7250 on VZW and just recently activated a line on T-Mobile initially I took the Sammy t-809 which is a POS, then I returned that and took one of the free phones (Sammy X-475) I am giving this to my grandmother with a pre-paid t-mobile line I have...what to do what to do?

So far,its not even guaranteed that T-Mobileis going to carry the 8700. I am so upset, they take forever to update phones,and instead just change colors.

You can look up in www.fusewireless.com pretty soon they will start selling 8700 under TMobile. if so, then put this code suddr2004 in comment box.

right now they are selling 7290 for $150 with a year plan. They offer instant rebate.

Remember T-Mobile released the 7100 series before other domestic carriers. Cingular got the exclusive agreement with the 8700 first and other carries in the US had to wait at least 90 days. They dont take forever to update phone, a quick glance at their site shows they have the SDA and soon the MDA; 2 windows powered devices. I have yet to see those handsets on any other domestic carriers sites, I may be wrong. The latest I have heard (FROM THIS SITE) was the 8700 would be out near the end of March beginning of April or T-Mo.

true to get a discount on any phonesyou would need to get a new contract or in tmobils cas get a 2 year extansion on your contract. I think th reason they did that is to many people wer abusing the fromer contract claused to get free phones and they wer loosing money on handsets

Recently I bought a new 7290 with a new one-year contract. I kept the old 7230 for my daughter. didnt see the 2 year contract.
