Default BT Voicedialing on a BB - will it ever be possible?

Please Login to Remove!

I love my 7100g esp now with OS 4.1. It basically has everything I want - maybe would like EDGE but that's fine - except any type of voice dialing.

What would truly make this a killer device would be some sort of speaker-independent voice dialing that supported BT. I mean, imagine what a killer app that would be.

Is there any hope that this would be possible or is it just not possible on a BB? I really feel that this would be the real killer app that would raise the BB to a whole new level.

Found one for Nextel users (doesn't support BT headsets fully yet) - looks like great software: http://mobilevoicecontrol.com/index.htm

Only works with Nextel though so everyone else is SOL. Don't understand why this vendor or another voice command software vendor wouldn't capitalize on such a huge gap for this type of software for Blackberry users.

Research before you buy there are plenty of posts here of people that did not like it or were not happy with it. On top of that you have to pay for this on an ongoing basis per month.

Cingular offers VoiceDial or VoiceConnect, not sure if this helps you. There is a monthly fee but the bad part is they don't allow M2M if you use it to make a call. There are a couple of threads about this so check the search.

Voice dial with voice recognition is a really useful application, I hope RIM adds this to the BB.

Thanks, I'm aware of the Cingular VoiceConnect option. I wouldn't even mind paying for that and using it if it could be triggered from the BT headset. If I could press my BT headset button which would then trigger VoiceConnect and then dial - I'd be happy for now...but alas that is not possible.

Sent emails to VoiceSignal (make very nice software) and MobileVoiceControl. VoiceSignal said they have no plans to develop anything for the Blackberry platform.

MobileVoiceControl said they are considering other carrier's devices at this time and should make a decision in another month. They also pointed out that currently there is no Blackberry API for the Bluetooth implementation on our devices so they can't enable VoiceDialing over BT at this time.

Although not exactly what you want, you could assign a speed dial key on the phone to the voicedial number. The phone connects and you can use your bluetooth headset to say the name and dial out. I was doing it that way and it worked fine. I thought the cost was high but the real deal killer for me is no M2M when using it to make a call.
