Post no-service provider usage

Hi,

I have a Blackberry 8320 that has a better camera than the phone I currently use. I would like to know if the phone can be used with out a service provider to take pictures and download them to a computer using a mini-USB cable?
Is that possible?
The phone was originally a T-Mobile issue and has a T-Mobile SIM card.

Thanks,
Jim Julian
