Question Upgrading, looking for advice

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I've had a used Curve 8310 for quite a while but it's really seen better days now. I am looking around for a replacement and would like an 8520.

Trouble is (and you'll think I'm really weird) I'm not into all this social networking, instant messaging, or weather and travel updates. I've run my 8310 without a data plan and I have such a good contract with o2 here in the UK I really want to keep it.

I know a great deal of software is now downloaded OTA and I would hope to be able to handle that with the wireless network I have at home. I'm really just a texter and a talker who appreciates a really good qwerty keyboard as well as a good PIM and running databases and spreadsheets etc.

Is it realistically possible to run an 8520 without a data plan? I've seen the Nokia E63 but I'm really comfortable with the BB OS.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks,

Craig

It really isn't possible to use any BlackBerry properly without a data plan. Downloading apps requires the BlackBerry browser or App World, which require a data plan. A data bolt-on can be had for as little as 3, so I don't see any argument against it.

Also, I would get the 9300. It is the 8520's replacement.

If you don't want a data plan, get a Nokia.
