How do i unlock my BB

I am new here... I use a storm 9530 provided by verizon. My problem is that since I moved to Kenya - East Africa, I could not use the BIS of the local carriers. I was told that my phone had been locked. Please, how do I unlock this mess..... I feel frustrated that I can not access internet on my BB... Thanks

Can you use voice and text messaging with this new carrier? If so, then the phone is unlocked.

Did you cancel your BIS account with Verizon - specifically tell Verizon to cancel it?
