Hi out of interest is it possible to send a bbm message from a different phone? as my niece left her phone at her nans and it was switched off. But some messages have been sent by her from her phone to a phone but noone was in the house where the phone was?

Any info or anyone able to shed some light its really confusing

BBM is blackberry only.

standard text messages will go to any cell phone.

A BBM message goes only to a specific device, and those messages cannot be read anywhere but on that specific device. There is no web interface for your BBM account, and at least for now, BBM remains BlackBerry-only.

but it was sent to another bberry a friends to be exact but the phone it was sent from was turned off and in a locked house and the person that sent the text had no access to it hence why i asked if it would be possible to send it from another bberry device?

You keep mixing the terms BBM and text. Text is generally accepted to mean an SMS message which can be sent from any cellphone to any other cellphone as long as you know the phone number. You should be able to tell which phone it came from by the phone number, but if the receiver has that phone number in the contact entry for your neice then it would look like it came from her.

A BBM message is sent using the PIN-to-PIN protocol on the BlackBerry network and can be sent from any BlackBerry to any other BlackBerry as long as you know the PIN of the receiver (or BBM determines the PIN from the add contact procedure). BBM messages can only be sent between phones that have requested and approved a contact relationship.
