I have a strange problem on my BB. I have a few applications that I cannot seem to save their requested permissions.

One example is "ASAP Free - Ignore Call and Send Custom SMS". Whenever I try to run this application I get the "Application Permission Request" dialog screen with Personal Information and Connectivity options checked. I press the Save button but when I run it again I get the same dialog all over again.

Another example is "Free Chess" (by SolverLabs) in which case when I run it I only get the Connectivity option checked and when I save the requested permission I get an error from the game saying I have to restart the application and grant the requested permissions.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

I am running BB Bold 9780 with OS 6.0 Bundle 1879 (v6.0.0.448, Platform 6.5.0.136).

BTW, this problem started only after I applied a patch sent from Orange Israel to solve daylight saving time problem.

Have you pulled the battery?

I have tried to pull the battery and it did not solve the problem.

Try reinstalling the app and saving permissions as you download it.

I have tried this and it did not solve the problem. As I have stated this happens in a couple of applications. It seems that the "Application Permission Request" screen simply does not do anything.

Are you on a BES? Have a look at the permissions applied to the application in the Options application management screen. Try to set the permissions as the app requests them there.

I have tried to look in the Application Permissions screen and it seems that there are some permissions I just can't set. I mean to say that for some permissions the only options I have are Prompt and Deny and I cannot set them to Allow.

Then BES ITPolicy settings are preventing you from giving applications those permissions.
The apps are not written properly in that they assume that they get whatever permissions they ask for. The is a bad practice for BlackBerry apps because the user, especially when on a BES, can't always control what permissions can be approved. It is far too common though.

You need to take this up with the app vendor. They need to write there application to either gracefully degrade capability they don't have permission to support, or fail when they don't get required permissions at the outset.
