Default multiple folders

I have a user who created multoiple folders on Lotus Notes and moved mail to the new folders on his PC. The BBerry replicates the creation of foloders but does not sync the mail he coppied to those folders. Thanks in advance for any and all responses!

To enable folder viewing in LN, you have to...
1. Open "Desktop Manager"
2. Open "Redirector Settings"
3. Go to the "Advanced" tab
4. Change the radio button to "Selected Folders" then the "Choose Folders" button is enabled. The select the subfolders you want to be able to see on the BlackBerry. Be sure to select "Inbox" or you won't get your Inbox any more!

You could also set his Inbox settings not to hide filed messages. They will show up with a folder next to them, but they will still show up in the Inbox view on the BB.

Hope that helps.

Default Lotus Notes folder contents not replicating

Scott,

The folder names are replicated to the BBerry but the mail never follows them. I tried your suggestion without success.

It will not sync all the existing e-mails in the folders. Only messages that are moved there going forward will show up. Not incredibly useful, but after a few months it might be!!
Did you try moving an e-mail to one of the folders and then "reconciling" on the BB?

On the BlackBerry go into your messages and click the scroll wheel. You should have an option towards the bottom that says "Reconcile Now". If you have an older OS, you can not force it for a period of time, so if that option does not show up right away, try in a few minutes.

Hope you get it working! Most of the users I support eventually just turn it off as it isn't really easy to manage...

Scott,

The pattern I see is that new messages sync to the BBerry almost immediately. When I move or copy messages to sub folders in Lotus, it is a "hit or miss" if those emails get sync'ed to BBerry... sometimes it will work, sometimes not. I'm wondering if a firmware upgrade will make a difference...

What BlackBerry(s) are you trying this on?
It worked for me on 7280's and 7290's.

I have a 7290 (OS3.8, BES2.2) with Notes 5.0. I tried what you mentioned and it works. Have always had folders on Notes, when I move emails in, the same move happens on the BB. Haven't had the chance to see if it's done automatically OTA (I always sync daily, no wireless sync for address book, tasks on my setup). Just tried a Reconcile Now as Scott said, and the message on BB inbox gets filed automatically under the BB's corresponding folder as per Notes. The weird part is my Redirector isn't even configured as Scott suggested!

I went to my inbox folder and opened the mail. After scrolling, I do not see an option for "reconcile now." I thought I saw it recently, but don't recall exactly how I got to it...

On the older OS's you only see "reconcile now" after 15 minutes or if you have made some changes in your messages, such as deleted an e-mail. With the newer handhelds, such as the 7290, you always have that option. So if you don't see it right away, wait a bit and look again.

i found "reconcile now" and ran it... The sub folders are still not displaying any mail. Redirector settings are already chosen to move mail to new folders...

Just to follow up, filing to folders in BB is done automatically OTA. I just shifted a new mail in my Notes inbox to a folder, the move was mirrored on the BB automatically while I was browsing this forum. :D

The Reconcile Now option will only appear if you have made changes on the BlackBerry. (ie move or delete mail) The exception is the 3.8 and 4.0 handheld software which will always display this option.

The redirector settings only need to be configured to redirect new incoming mail. You can file/reconcile email into all subfolders by default.

You can only "move" email into subfolders and have them reconcile. If you "copy" a message this creates a new NoteID and therefore is no longer the same message. For the later to work you will have to choose selected folders from redirector settings.
