I have started using Google Calendar recently for a side business. I set up Google sync to get the Google calendar onto my Bold 9930. Works great. Here's my question...

I hadn't noticed this till yesterday - but since I am on BES at work, my Calendar app syncs wirelessly. My BES server saw all those Google calendar entries on my BB, and proceeded to sync them with my work (desktop) Calendar in Lotus Notes. I don't want my Google Calendar entries to be on my Notes Calendar, I only want them on the BB. The Lotus Notes Calendar is strictly for work...Google Calendar is for a separate business.

Anyone know of a way to prevent this? I'm going to go look at BES Policies, but figured perhaps someone had run into this before. (and I am the BES Admin, go figure...)

Google Sync only syncs with the Default CICAL calendar on the handheld... which is most likely your Lotus Notes calendar.

If you wanted to continue using Google Sync (which I do not recommend) then you'd need to switch your default CICAL service book on the handheld to your Google calendar.

In my opinion, there's no need to use Google Sync at all.. and the app has always been shit anyway, especially for BES enabled handhelds.

BIS has wireless sync of Google Contacts and Calendar built into it. Just enable that via BIS and your Google Calendar will sync to it's own calendar on the handheld, separate from your BES calendar.

I do not recommend mixing personal and company data on a BB connected to the company BES, unless of course you want to take your side business as your full time job.

If you need personal connectivity, you should get a personal device.

Your position on this is somewhat outdated.
You should read up on BlackBerry Balance, which is now a part of BES.

Even RIM supports having personal and corporate data on the same device. So much so that they specifically designed BlackBerry Balance to keep the two sets of data separate.

Thanks penguin - I am still running BES 5.0.1, and I need 5.0.3 to get Blackberry Balance (another reason for me to schedule an upgrade! Maybe I'll get that done when BES 6.5 has been released LOL)

I will see if I can figure out BIS Calendar sync...kinda weird because I use a hotmail address as my Google Calendar account...and my hotmail email is one of my BIS accounts.

FWIW...I saw all the threads about how crappy google sync is.....AFTER I installed it ha!

Dubdub-thanks for your contribution I have 1 corporate & 5 personal/side business email accounts coming to my BB, and never the twain shall meet. It's just recently that the Calendar need arose.
