I think we need more information about your BlackBerry. I've never heard of a 9700B which OS are you running? Gmail may be the mail service you want to activate, but I don't think it is your carrier. What error message do you get?

I just spent 2 hours trying to get my emails back up on my Blackberry and finally called my provider (Verizon) and they were able to do it and no real wait time once I got past all the recordings. So my suggestion is to save time and call.

There is no 9700"b" model BlackBerry.

To initiate a security wipe, complete the following steps:
On the BlackBerry Smartphone, select Options from the home screen.
Select Security Settings, then Security Wipe.
Specify what items will be wiped during this process by checking off the boxes.
Enter xxx8220;blackberryxxx8221; and select Wipe.

Did not notice anyone asking about wiping a Blackberry.
