Hi All,

I am about to receive a BB Curve that will be synched with my work e-mail, contacts, calendar etc (Outlook 2007). I work for government so getting this is a big deal. However, I am trying to work out how to use the BB remote features (email, calendar and contacts) to allow me to work from home more. I don't have a laptop PC for my job (desktop only).

Are there any apps/software where I could connect the BB to a home PC and then run some software or a browser on my home PC that will allow me to reply/compose e-mails etc on my PC that is connected to my BB?

I can't imagine trying to do a whole day's work just using the BB keyboard and I'd like to be able to work from home a couple of days a week now that I will be getting the BB.

I'm not aware of any PC software that will allow you to do what you want, other than using a VPN to connect to your work Exchange server. Talk to your IT support people about that.

If the BlackBerry is the only way they are going to let you connect to the corporate servers, then a PlayBook may be a viable option. The Bridge software will allow you to access e-mail, contacts, calendar etc from the BlackBerry. Add a BlueTooth keyboard and an HDMI connection to a Monitor or TV and you should be set. You will also be able to take your BlackBerry and PlayBook to Starbucks and work from there and be secure. This is the scenario that the PlayBook was designed to solve. But again, talk to your IT support people, they probably won't respond to surprises well.

If you work for the government you may not have to worry about working from home for too long. The IT security group will discover your off loading information ( thats why you only have a desktop)and your new company may allow this....provided your not in jail.

I looked up some of the suggestions above - thanks. Not sure it's what I'm looking for. Let me explain, a little better, what I am hoping I can do.

I'm at home with my BB. I connect it, say thru USB, to a regular Windows computer that is connected to the Internet. Then this PC is kind of an extension of my BB. I'm only interested in using the email features. So, on the PC, I would be able to see all the email that my BB can show me and I could use the PC to compose and send e-mail etc as if I were doing it from my BB.

Anything available?

Yes, the problem with what you want to do is the work you do on your PC would be out of the relm of control of the BES. It doesn't matter to the BES who owns the PC. The PlayBook however (if allowed by IT policy) with bridge software on the BB can do that now.
