SPAMMED by FaceBook! What do I do?
 

I just set up my blackberry email with PayPal earlier today and now out of nowhere my phone is getting blown up with spam from FaceBook! I'm not on FaceBook and I'm very strict with my use of this email - I use other free sites instead - but since I've been parting out one of my motorbikes, I figured I should use my BB email so I can get notifications. Unfortunately, now I'm getting inundated with this crap and I have no idea what to do! I removed that email from my PayPal account but it's not like there is a "spam" button to make this go away! I am pretty much screwed?

If your email is set up on BIS, you can login in to BIS on your computer and set up filters so the spam messages are not pushed to your BlackBerry. I have a couple of email accounts that get a ton of spam and I have most of it filtered so not much gets pushed to my device. If you are using your ISP email, gmail or yahoo, etc, you should also be able to turn on spam filtering for those accounts to stop it at the server level.

Facebook has no relationship with Paypal so something else is going on. What provider is this e-mail address through?

There is a ton of spam going around that purports to be from Facebook. They are all scams or phishing emails aimed at stealing Facebook logins. I find them in my spam catchall - a lot of them. Even if you don't have a Facebook account, spammers generate spam to random email addresses and they are sent via botnets from infected user's PCs.
