A little research and information on your part will go a long way into selecting a device.

You need to start with the ones your carrier, "loop mobile", supports. Is it GSM, CDMA, 4G, LTE, HSPDA+ ?

What features do you need? How do you plan to use it?

What is 15000 INR in US Dollars?

15,000 INR is about 270 US Dollars.

Loop Mobile offers a few BlackBerry devices, but their prices aren't listed.

Loop

You will need a BlackBerry dataplan, that Loop also offers. I think it is best you contact Loop for your pricing needs.

Also, on their page, it lists the specs of the devices, so you can see which one will fit your needs the best.

In India, the carrier and the smartphone are independent. I can choose any smartphone I want.

Maybe so, but what about support. I would take the advice given by jsconyers as you start your research.

We all use our devices differently and have different needs. For me email and calendar are king. For others it might be voice quality or Internet or BBM or some other feature. You need to decide how you plan to use it and pick a smartphone that does that. It might not even be a BB.

Niket , if you can stretch your budget a bit more, the BB 9380 (Touch Screen with OS7.0) is available for INR.16990 , the BB 9360 is available for INR.18990. There are quite a few models available within your budget. Do keep in mind that you would need a separate data plan for internet, mail and BBM. check out BlackBerry Phones & Smartphones - Latest Mobile Phones & Tablet PCs - India for more options on the models available. You can browse the internet without a dataplan if you are using a BSNL 3G prepaid sim if you enter the appropriate APN setting. Did not work when I tried with Airtel / Vodafone SIM. Hope this helps.

I'm just reinforcing what the others have written: BlackBerrys are different. Seriously. It will be smoother to use a model that the carrier sells. Not that you need to buy it from the carrier, but it will be easier for you if it is a model the carrier supports.

My advice is read through blackberryfaq.com and get familiar with BlackBerrys in general. If you do intend to get a different model than is sold by the carrier, make sure you know what workarounds you will need to do and how you are going to do it.

Is the BB 9900 available. Everyone is saying it is the best so far. Not sure if the OS 10 is coming in Sept or not.
