Default Email issue on Blod 9700

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum so apologies if this subject has been covered.

The "send" option has disappeared from my options when composing an email. I can only reply to an email but cannot compose one to send. I have contacted my network provider who said there isn't a resolution for this! I have rebooted, but no joy.

Can anyone help me out on this?

Many Thanks,

Kay

With the power on, remove the battery. Wait 30 seconds to a minute and then put the battery back. Test.

Okay. You say that Send is not in the messages app when you have composed a message and then want to send it? A hard reset (battery pull) is the usual fix for something like that.

See what others say. I think I might do a full backup, then a security wipe, then a restore. I suppose it is possible an app or a theme is the cause, but don't know. I'd see if the security wipe corrects the problem, then pay attention when restoring apps.

Hi,

When I compose an email I cannot send it as the "send" option is not there. I have pulled out the battery but hasnt solved it. If I do a security wipe, will I lose all my text messages, email messages, etc?

Yes, you will clear all data and settings. That is why I say do a full backup first. Then restore your data after the wipe.

Might be a silly question Ira, but how do I do a full back up?

Get the desktop software from blackberry.com. It is a free download. Use that to do a backup to a computer. Then use it to restore data a settings to the blackberry.

The desktop software may be used to backup everything -- a full backup, all data and settings -- or selectively backup certain databases and not others.

That doesn't make any sense. Whoever you spoke to didn't know the answer and just made something up that made sense to them.

I would try another battery pull. Wait two minutes this time. Menu issues like you describe are fixed by a hard reset. Sometimes an issue isn't fixed by the first hard reset, and sometimes it takes a longer wait.

Next step, as I said, is to try a security wipe. Select the option to delete user installed apps. This might correct it.

Worst case, reload the OS. That will fix it, but it takes longer, and there is risk it won't go so smooth.

But do a backup first.
