Our University will be discontinuing BES support. What are my options as a BB user?

The upside is no more IT Policy. Personal email accounts will be possible once you remove the old IT Policy (see BlackBerry FAQ)

The downside is no more wireless backups. Remove the IT policy as Rambo suggested using Method 1 (Method 2 is obsolete.) Then install BBProtect and set it to make daily backups. But since BBProtect doesn't backup everything you'll want to install BlackBerry Desktop Software and make weekly backups of your device.

another option is getting a PlayBook and using Exchange Active Sync

Next year you can do it with a BB10 phone
