The video was made by RIM employees for the Jam sessions. It's pretty self explanatory. It's for the devs.

At the Jam in Toronto, they used Petty's Waiting is the Hardest Part. RIM is hardly the first company to produce an industrial video.

Of course it wasn't; but at a time when the mainstream press - and a lot of people - are having trouble taking RIM seriously now, it was taken seriously.
