Default Connecting to the Blackberry Infrastrcuture

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I'm a bit of a newbie to the BB world. Here is my question:

This is more specific to tablets (none 4G/LTE). I'm trying to connect this thing to BDS/Fusion at my companies infrastructure. As i understand the connection happens through the Blackberry infrastructure via the SRP connection on port 3101.

My question is, does connectivity to ca.srp.blackberry.com only happen if the device is communication directly on the Carrier/Cellular network? Specifically, if a tablet is only on Wifi, can it connect to the Blackberry infrastructure accross the public internet?

Thanks for any feed back.

Default Re: Connecting to the Blackberry Infrastrcuture

WIFI will be allowed for Blackberry handhelds with a BB data plan via the carrier. It will be routed via the carrier and Rim's servers. The BB pad requires connection to a handheld for email and other email related services. As for non RIM devices, I do not think they will connect to the BB servers.
you might ask this question on the RIM support site for developers.
