Re-installing applications

I have been trying to get an answer from Blackberry about an app that I installed on my Blackberry 9800 in the UK. The World Clock......

appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/66843/?lang=en&countrycode=US

Now that I live in the USA and have upgraded my Blackberry Torch to a 9850, would you believe that the application does not work on that phone! I have messaged, emailed BBM over this and they appear either not to have received my question, or choose not to answer it. To add insult to injury, they required that I paid for this application again, despite the fact that the phone displayed, "Re-Install World Clock". So, I paid for the app in the UK, paid again in the USA and all it does, when run, is completely freeze my phone. The only solution is to remove the battery and reboot the phone and then delete the app. Its a shame, it was a good clock, many people agree and many have also had the same problem. BB just don't want to answer my question...... :x

Re: Re-installing applications

there are a few different ones.

some of the clocks on the Appworld site require OS10 or higher
and some only support models other than the 9850.

the link you show does indicate it supports your phone. If it causes issues it may be a conflict with another App or
maybe the OS on the phone is corrupted and should be reloaded.

As for re-paying for the App, did you reregister the new phone? It should allow you to download Apps you already paid for provided they work on your phone.

I would check your account and see what phone it thinks if registered.

Thanks for your reply. When I first purchased this World Clock, BB10 was nowhere near being released to the market, nor yet was it in March 2012 when I obtained my 9850. I had purchased another app prior to moving to the USA and BB App World allowed me to download and install that one without repaying. As far as I can see, once registered with BB and having a Blackberry ID, it shouldn't really matter what ones device is, as long as its a Blackberry, apps ought to be reinstallable as long as the device is compatible with the software. I believe that, in this case, there is a problem somewhere and it is not only me who has the issue, quite a few reveiwers have posted the same issue. Blackberry is not addressing it.

I will, however see if I can find out if BB has my current phone registered as such, although I never did register my previous phone with Blackberry as a concious act, I just bought both phones from the service providers, and used them, probably like most people do.

Re: Re-installing applications

The double payment is a problem that RIM should address. Have you tried posting in supportforums.blackberry.com ? As an application vendor I don't like to see people have this problem.

The problems you are having running the application on a specific phone need to be addressed to the application vendor. The application page in BlackBerry World lists [email address].

Although it may work, I have never downladed an App from Appworld without logging in so it effect the blackberry is registered. also when using desktop manager and changing handhelds ( device swap) I have not had any problems moving compatible device apps to the new phone.
at least thats my experience.

Thanks, I'll try the support forums that you suggest and the support email address you mention does not reply, not even an automatic "Thanks for your question".
