wiping bb without sim?

I had my BB Bold stolen at Vietnam Airport, it had no sim since I used it as a Backup phone (for line and whatsapp) now I have my pretty Z10.

There's still a lot of data on the phone as well as on the memory card - does anyone know if it's possible to wipe the phone if there's no sim card in it?

What is the best thing I should do?

I'm trying to go through the official lost and found channels of course to see if someone has reported it at the airport somehow.. but doubt that will result in anything. I dont have any data there that I care about so am happy to get it remotely wiped (device and memory card) but is it possible without sim?

do i wait till someone activates it?

let me know what you think?

Well, how exactly would you communicate with the device to wipe it without it being in contact through a network via the SIM card?

I think the answer is "No".

This is, in fact, the answer.

Well.. I thought perhaps if someone tries a wife connection?

I hv BlackBerry Protect running on it, checked it yesterday but phone seems off.. Any insight on how this works what the thieves would try next?

It's got a pin lock on the device.. easy to hack or rather safe?

I've given the wipe command already via the site.. if they factory reset it somehow will it still wipe the device?

Wife connection? Huh?

Anyway, the device will be wiped regardless of what they do, but the memory card will not.
