Default The specified Intellisync Configuration is invalid

Please Login to Remove!

A user in our organisation has the following problem:

When clicking Configure PIM in the desktop manager he gets the following error:

The specified Intellisync Configuration is invalid

I was able to solve this issue by reinstalling the Desktop Manager software and removing the 4 folders in c:\documents and settings\username\Research in Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync\nnnnnnnn, where nnnnnnnn is your PIN (thanks to Talldog).

However, when clicking Synchronize now, I get the error:

Internal error (see logs)

I'm not sure which logs are ment and where to find them. The only thing selected to synchronize is the adressbook.

Blackberry is 7290 with software 4.0.2.35
Desktop Manager is 4.0.1.10 (I'm not keen on upgrading or downgrading the software).

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

make sure notes is open when trying to sync. i know it sounds stupid, but we get an error (cant remember exact message) when we try to sync the bb when notes v5.10 is closed.

I'd also say doublecheck the Blackberry Desktop Manager settings. Make sure the INI file is pointing to the right places. Also, if the users ID, notes.ini, names.nsf, etc are residing on a network (or outside of the lotus\notes\data folder) make sure you copy the notes.INI file into the lotus\notes folder.

Lotus Notes was open when synchronizing the adressbook.

earth: could you specify which INI file you mean ("Make sure the INI file is pointing to the right places"). Further, the ID, etc are all in the lotus\notes\data folder and notes.ini is in the lotus\notes folder.

Humourous story. I'm having this exact problem with a user's bberry that I'm setting up as we speak. If I solve it, I'll let you all know.

What I've done so far

1. deleted handheld + desktop software.
2. cleaned registry
3. hard boot
4. reinstalled desktop + handheld software

I meant the notes.ini file. If you're using a network drive, the INI may reside in a notescfg folder which means it will need to be copied locally into the lotus\notes\ folder.

BUMP!

Any solution for this anyone knows of?

I'm still troubleshooting on my end.

what I've now done above and beyond what I said above:

1. Tried a new RIM handheld on the laptop (to associate a new PIN), same problem.

2. Deleted users profile and got them to login again, creating a new profile, same problem.

I'm going to be checking today for any other solutions, and if there are none my only other alternative is to reimage the users computer.

I've had another user with this problem. He also had a corrupt names.nsf (adressbook). A compact solved the problem of the corruption as well as this synchronisation error. Otherwise you could reinstall Notes, assuming you're using Notes...

reinstall notes and recreate the names.nsf file?

I'll try reinstalling notes.

As to the names.nsf... I've tried removing all the options from the sync so it only does email and the problem still arises.
