Don't duh me. I'm a business user that happened to be asked about a consumer product. I had heard that sms had been enabled with 4.1. What were the facts?

there are multiple threads in different parts of the forum about the 7520, sms and 4.1... short answer is it still isn't enabled. as far as saving sms to the sim i'd say so that you could save your sms somewhere since it doesn't seem that they can be synced along with all the pim info

SMS messages can't be sync'd but they can be backed up on your BB. When you sync your SMS messages won't be saved, but when you backup your BB they will.

4.1 will enable MMS messaging from the 7520 - same as the 7100.

IT DOES NOT WORK...how many times does this come up...Hasn't worked yet...it's like "beating a dead horse."
To my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong (please) 4.1 hasn't done SQUAT for messaging in general. It didn't say anything about it on the "update information facts." Maybe I should do another search on messaging for my 7520 and re-educate myself...

I am looking at my Alltel 7250, with 4.0 software, and I get the option to "SMS xxx" when I click on name in my address book.
I can send SMS (or as some call them text messages) to anyone that has a cell.
I have been able to use SMS since the 3.8 days with ATT Wireless.
MMS, Multimedia Message Service, does not exist on the Blackberry (at least not yet).

At least the header of this thread says "How to SMS from 4.1 7520"

let me reiterate... NO SMS on NEXTEL. 7250 and 7520 both have same numbers but are totally different. Do not confuse- them.

yea people get over lack of sms on the 7520, you can easily email, or say in a DC call what you could type in an sms.

now if i could send pdf, that would be a different story

well I honestly dont care about the lack of sms on the 7520. Im fine with the idea of using teleflip.

what i would like to know is if I were to send a message to another phone via teleflip... if they were to reply... who would they reply to? if they cant send emails... what do they do to reply. for some reason I cant even recieve sms on my 7520.
