Is there a way to set the "sent from address" in the new TMO BIS?

TMO BIS blackberry will let you choose one of your email addresses for "sent from" when you compose new email.

Open new email, scroll to the top which will be Send Using:, click on it, select Change Option and you will see choice of email addresses to send from.

Is there a way to use the new BIS like the old one. Forward messages to the blackberry address and use just one account with a return address of my choosing.

No.. I do miss that functionality.. they turned it off unannounced. I started replying to emails and people saw my @tmo.blackberry address instead of my "real" one.

Nothing like moving backwards. How often does the BB poll a pop account that you add

Every 15-min or so.

I actually have grown to like the 15-min wait. It gives me 14-minutes to relax.

Just as I don't sit at my PC all day (checking E-mail), people don't expect me to reply right away (and even 15-minutes is pretty quick).

While people know I have a BlackBerry, no one knows if I am reading/replying to their message from my desktop or handheld.

That being said, if it is urgent, people know to SMS, PIN, or gosh-forbid CALL me.

Its a short delay.. it tends to vary 5-15 mins, I guess depending on how busy it is.

I am considering jumping ship to TMO, are you saying I can't forward my mail from a POP3 account to get it instant and use that same account as my "send from" like I currently do with Cingular?

You can forward your mail from a POP3 account and get it instantly. I have a TMO 7100t and have my gmail account forwarded to the BB INSTANTLY and when I compose an email from the BB it shows on the other end as being sent from my gmail address. Now if you want to know how to set it up I would have to look at mine after you make the switch cause I cant remember how I did it exactly.

Did you set this up in the old webclient or new BIS?

The old webclient seetings carried over to the NEW BIS. However,in the new BIS setup i can't find where to change your "sent from" address. I can only see to add new accounts.

Here is how I have this set up. Part I is what settings you need in the new BIS on tmobile.com. Part II is how I have it set up as POP3 from my gmail.

Part I.

1. Login to your tmobile account and go to the email setup page.
2. Click the edit key to edit your account.
3. Enter the information as follows...

EMAIL ACCOUNT:
YOUR NAME: your name
REPLY TO: (user@gmail.com)

Part II. (Gmail) This part will vary for POP3 account (use forwarding)

1. Go to Forwarding and POP in the settings
2. Forward a copy of the incoming mail to your account.


All of this will allow your POP3 account mail to forward to your BB and when you reply to incoming mail from your BB the address will show up on the other persons email as coming from your POP3.

I must be missing something, how is this moving backwards and what exactly are you missing? Why do you need to forward all your accounts to the BB mail address? And if you look at the top of the message you are sending you can make it appear to come from any of your accounts including your BB account.

If it is the up to 15 minute delay that bothers you sign up for a free yahoo account and forward all your mail there. Again, you can make it appear to come from any of your accounts if you don't want yahoo as a sending address.

Note -- my @yahoo.com accounts are as fast at syncing and sending as BES.

Non-Yahoo BIS accounts have the 5-15 minuted delay.

Now I am really confused. Why wouldn't the yahoo account have a 15 minute delay?

For me, I don't have "all these accounts", I have 1 POP3 account that I use for business, having the mail instantanous is important to me, especially if you are in the middle of a mail conversation. Now, I do have another Yahoo account for personal stuff that isn't as important and I could live with the 15 minute delay, I currently just read it from the browser and don't forward it to my BB.

TMO and yahoo have a deal where any yahoo accounts you setup in BIS are pushed instead of polled.. I use that and love it. Plus it sync's with your BIS so when you delete it on your handheld, its off your yahoo account.
