Just started using a Blackberry the other day and like it a lot so far. I just have one question, and it may not be possible. Is there a way to have it not check the POP server for email when you're doing so on your laptop? Please let me know if there is a way to do this. I notice that it POPs the email even when the device is turned off. Please let me know.

Sorry, POP3 email is either on or off. Its actually the BIS server that is picking up your POP3 mail, not the BlackBerry device itself.

They only way to do this would be to either go into your webclient and remove the POP3 email address from your BB account (if polling) or go to your pop3 server and remove the forwarding (if forwarding) and then reverse the process when you wanted the mail back. But what a pain, it is easy enough to just delete them from the BB if you don't want to read them. A delete Prior works great

Yeah it has not been too bad. My laptop POPs every 3 minutes so it is catching most of the email before BIS does...
