I tried a search, but wasn't happy with the answers I found (or my searchng skills aren't that great)... but for my BIS (personal) account, I currently use "Auto Bcc" to myname+bcc@server.com -- and on my mail server I've got a script that watches incoming mail, and then puts any message sent to "myname+bcc@server.com" in my "Sent" box.

This works great, with one major exception. If I ever want to forward a copy of a message (not resend), the BlackBerry never can seem to find the "real" original and gives me a red "X" and says, "Unlisted message error".

The header data shows it as the "outbox" folder. I read some posts on this site that said the BIS can also place the original message in an IMAP's "Sent Items" folder, so I decided to try that as an option, but it didn't work. So I had a look at TMOs web site and it said:

BlackBerry Internet Service > If I send a message from my BlackBerry device, is a copy of the message placed in the Sent Items folder of my desktop email program?

The answer (below) essentially says that if you're using IMAP (which I am) it will put the message in your Sent Items folder. However, this does not seem to be the case. Any ideas on how I can debug this? I called TMO and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about, and told me "we'll call you back." So while I wait for that, I'm looking for feedback. Thanks.

For corporate (Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino) and IMAP mailbox types, if you send a message from your BlackBerry device or BlackBerry-enabled device, the message is copied to the Sent folder in your third-party desktop email program.

Notes:

This feature is not supported by POP3 accounts.

For integrations with any Microsoft Outlook Web Access version 5.5 accounts, sent messages are not copied to the Sent Items folder of your desktop email program.

Messages that are sent from the BlackBerry device or BlackBerry-enabled device are copied to the Sent Items folder of your desktop email program. If you send a message directly from your third-party desktop email program, the message is not copied to the Sent folder of the BlackBerry device or BlackBerry-enabled device.

Double check the spelling of the "Sent Items" folder in your IMAP system -- make sure there are no extra spaces.

Also, log onto the BIS and check the Edit/ Advanced settings to make sure the BIS recognizes your server as IMAP.

Yep, folder is named "Sent Items" (minus quotes, of course). And TMO web site does indeed say IMAP. Weird, right? That is why I was asking if there was some way to debug the process. Thanks!

I broke down and contacted TMO tech support again. They never called me back. This time, they were just as unhelpful (as you might guess). The guy said, "I don't know what IMAP is." Next guy said, "I don't know." Nice.
