Default Network Compatibility?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm looking to purchase my first Blackberry. I use sprint right now, and am looking at the 7250. I'd like to save some money and purchase a used one on ebay, but most of them on there are for the Verizon network.

Does that matter? Can I buy a "Verizon" blackberry and use it on the sprint network?

Thanks,

In hopes of saving you the misery and not getting burned like others no it probably won't. All BlackBerry's are locked to their respective carrier. When buying a BB of eBay do your homework.

To Anwnser this it is NO. Verizon, Sprint, Nextel can't move to other providers they are TDMA and CDMA; SO diffrant Technology. TMO and Cingular are GSM and if the device is unlcoked can move between providers.

HUH?? TDMA? Sprint and Verizon both use CDMA/EVDO.... However, you can not use a Verizon BB on a Sprint network. Nextel uses iDen.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8700C: Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I knew I was wrong on the networks. But I was making a larger point of diffrent technolgy. I was just trying to answer the question then over think it. He just wanted to know if it would work. Then educate him on the ins and out of cell phone systems.

I was afraid of that. Glad I didn't buy one.

Aside from ebay, does anyone know where I can get a deal on a sprint enabled BB (new or used is fine)? Sprint is only offering me $75 off of list price, which is more than I want to pay.

Are you a business account? The 7250 is only $99.00 with new activation.
