Default Anyway to remove the Emergency Call option

Please Login to Remove!

When you lock your bberry and hit the scroll wheel to unlock it, there is an option to place an emergency call. Does anyone know if there is a hack or a way to remove this?

Today my pocket accidently called the police on my 8700c...

I don't know if this was discussed previously, if it was, I appologize. I was shocked when I searched the site and only found one mentioning of this issue

Don't think it's possible. Federal Mandate for all Cell phones. Suppose you get severly injured and the only good samaritan around doesn't have a cell, wven if yours is locked, he/she can still call for help.

Hope this helps.

I know that it has to let you dial 911, but there is nothing that says it has to be the way it is on the bberry (i.e. an option on the easily dialed scroll wheel)

Thanks,

I really don't understand now. On my 8700c, with my keyboard locked, I habe to either press *+the green phone button. Or press the trackwheel the roll down and click then roll up the click again. Do you have password enabled? That may be the difference.

I have to do that as well, I do not have it password protected. The issue is that I don't use a case or holster, so I carry it in my pocket. While in my pocket I somehow managed to scroll down, press the wheel in, scroll up and choose yes. I don't know how it happened, but it did and I got a call from the police asking me if everything was ok... oops

i too am having repeat trouble with the phone making a call to the last outbound call in the log when its in my pocket....somehow in my pocket it is unlocking itself (sequence of key scrunches wihle in pocket (* and send)...one unlocked a second push (accidental) of the send and it makes the call..... i wish there was a way to REALLY lock the keyboard so that ONLY the wheel (unlikely that the wheel is unlocking keyboard)....anyone know a way of DISABLING the keyboard while its locked....so that the ONLY unlock method is the wheel?

thanks

I really think mine was the wheel, because it was dialing the emergency call option. I solved my issue by getting a holster
