Default 7520 Voicemail Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Ok guys and girls (if any girls actually do exist on this forum):

I did a search and found nothing about my problem.

I am with NEXTEL and my 7520 will not dial my voicemail. I press and hold the number 1 key and it dials the number and attaches four sets of the number "2" then followed by a "+" with a "9". Has anyone experienced this? I even try calling the number by just entering my cell number and still no luck. It automatically adds a "2" at the end of my number.

I just sent the phone into RIM but I won't get another one back until Friday or Monday...

To trouble shoot my problem I contacted NEXTEL and spoke with their BB support. Under the phone icon i pressed options, then voicemail, then found my number with the mysterious "2" at the end. So, I erase and click save. Go back into the voicemail option after the save and lo-and behold there it is again!

If the BB service goes out I think I'm going to a pocket pc with *cough* sprint.

Any suggestions would be great just in case if it ever happens again.

I get this problem periodically. I just remove and reinsert the battery and it works fine thereafter.

did you check the smart dialing options? Maybe it is added there as it might think it is dialing an extension?
go to the phone options and check the smart dialing features

I did check the smart dialing options before sending it out for service, no luck. Unfortunately for me, I'm leaving for an extended business trip so I broke down and purchased a 7100i for the time being.

I have really enjoyed this phone so far. The suretype keypad is a breeze.

I get the same damn problem every other day, never had it before 4.1. I have to pull the battery. If you try to change the voicemail number under options, it keeps adding a 2.

I have the same problem, however on a given day it will happen up to 4 times a day, yes I can pull the battery and get it corrected but, its a pain to do it so often. I have talked to Nextel support they give ya suggestions but all of em are temporary and the problem continues. I have wiped and reloaded, using several different methods, hard resets soft resets. It seems nothing corrects this issue.

I have the same problem with my 7520. Glad to know it is not just me. Pushing the voicemail, it will add numbers/characters to the number and will not connect. Tried turning off/on. Doesn't work. Only removing the battery works. Happens to me about once a week ... usually at an inconvenient moment.

Normally, to avoid that problem, I just dial in my phone number.
But then again, it still puts the carrier # in there even though you dial your number.

I would almost promise you it has something to with the Hardware.

No need to take battery out. Don't know the reason for it, and don't feel like hearing some bs from cs or ts.

I have a feeling 4.1 is the culprit as well... at any rate, a power cycle solves the problem. Hopefully RIM will patch a fix.
